Boys who come to camp are some of the bravest you'll ever meet. They choose to deal with abuse, addiction, trauma, defiance, apathy - whatever tore their lives apart. The boys live outside year-round, build their own shelters, and are compelled to learn, truly learn, by immersing themselves in their environment. Adventure trips are pinnacle experiences that can transform a hodgepodge of individuals into a group that achieves more than they ever thought they could.

One group wanted to canoe from the middle of Georgia to the ocean. They created an itinerary and a list of everything they’d need. What they didn’t realize is they would overcome pride, learn to ask for help, and forge trust while navigating the river.

On a week-long summer break, two co-workers set out to bike the Blue Ridge Parkway. They made a rough plan of where they’d camp and intermittently trained as best as they could. Jason and Scott, two novice cyclists, embarked on the scenic parkway carrying everything they needed with them. They desired a challenging adventure surrounded by nature. And that’s just what they got.

Nature has a way of drawing you in, making you feel both insignificant and wildly responsible. It overwhelms your senses and yet, carries with it a certain peace you can’t explain. Those feelings aren't just reserved for epic peaks in Colorado or pristine beaches in the Florida Keys. Every natural space is wonderfully alive and vastly different. It only takes a little effort to see its beauty.

Take a walk through an evolving forest of the North Carolina sandhills. You'll be surprised by what you'll find.

Where in the world has Jason been?
